• Because you are poor. There is no admission charge.
• Because you are rich. Money is not everything.
• Because it rains. You go to work and school in the rain.
• Because it is cold. It is warm and friendly inside.
• Because it is hot. So are fishing, attending ball games, and golfing.
• Because no one invited you. People go to a lot of places uninvited, and even pay to get in. (Consider this your invitation!)
• Because of hypocrites. We associate with them in the world every day.
• Because of company. Bring them along; they will admire you.
• Because you have little children. Jesus says, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me” (Matthew 19:14).
• Because your clothes are not nice enough. God looks on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
• Because the church always wants money. That is not true here.
• Because you have plenty of time in the future. Are you sure? (James 4:13–17).

You Expect Me to Believe That?

1. In the beginning there was nothing. And suddenly for no reason nothing exploded and created everything. You expect me to believe that?
2. At some point, by chance the right chemicals happened to float together at just the right moment to be struck by an electrical charge and become life. You expect me to believe that?
3. Somewhere two non-human mothers each gave birth to a human child. They were born at the same time and in the same place, one was male and one was female. These two new “humans” gave birth to the human race. You expect me to believe that?
4. One of the descendants of these first humans was born with a knowledge of right and wrong. No longer driven by instinct, this person suddenly was making decisions based on a morality for which there is no real explanation. You expect me to believe that?

I’m sorry. I don’t have that much blind faith. It’s all just too farfetched to be anything more than a fairy tale. I can’t believe intelligent people claim it is “science” (cf. 1 Timothy 6:20).

It's All a Racket

The youth director had been trying for months to get the little boy down the street to come to church services and his third grade Sunday school class.

Finally after talking to the boy and his mother for what seemed to be the hundredth time, the boy finally agreed to go the next Sunday, which he did. He seemed to enjoy all of the proceedings except at the end of the worship someone responded to be baptized. He watched, and then ran out the back door and ran all the way home. His mother asked him why did he run home instead of riding with the youth minister.

The little boy answered, “Its all a racket! They get you there and let you make all those nice things and tell you great stories just to get you relaxed so they can drown you at the end of one of the services.”
