There is no biblical origin or significance to the purple cloth
we often see draped over representations of the cross of Christ. In
doing some research on the Internet, I found that most who use it do
so in reference to the kingship of Christ. In the first century,
wearing purple cloth indicated that one was a person of wealth or
considerable means and was often considered as synonymous with
royalty.
Again, there is no biblical precedent for this, neither should there
be any biblical significance assigned to it.
